Missed my blogaversary! Plus I'm out of SFS...

I could have sworn my first blogaversary was going to happen in September!  In actual fact it was on 24th August.  I can't believe I have been blogging now for a whole year!  I have been made very welcome in the blogging/stitching community and have made some dear friends.  Thank you to everyone who has read my blog and commented over the past year.  I love sharing my stitching with you and hope to carry on for many years to come!

Anyway, I think it is tradition to have a giveaway round about now so that's what I'm going to do.  Open to all followers, old and new.  Please leave a comment on this blog telling me you would like to enter.  Prize will be a handmade piece and a few other little goodies from me.

Here's a recent little finish...
Halloween Mini by Lizzie*Kate Snip-It - Sampling Halloween
Stitched on Permin 32 count Amber linen
with recommended DMC, GAST and WDW threads
Started 22nd August 2014, finished 23rd August 2014

I made a little adjustment to the chart.  There was a motif between the K and the L which I could not figure out.  I think it may be a kind of American sweet.  I didn't like it so I swapped it for a bat which I charted myself.  I loved this little sweet stitch.

Now, onto my epic fail on SFS.  SFS is hosted by Mel at Epic Stitching.  I and many others have been trying to stitch from stash this year, only buying what we actually need.  We are allowed £25 per month to spend on stitching goodies, and one free month per year.  I had my free month in May when I went a bit mad buying cross stitch kits.  Well, I've done it again, this time on etsy.

I won't show you here what I bought as it's not for the faint-hearted, but I've added pictures to my Stash page.  If you want to have a nosey, please look for the header at the top of my blog.  It's not pretty!  Well, the charts are pretty, but not the greed.  Plus I then ordered fabric and threads to stitch them.

So, I'm out of the game!  I haven't emailed Mel yet to admit it.  I know I'm not the first but I am disappointed.  I'm planning on sticking to it for the rest of the year, but who knows what will happen?  I am weak-willed, that's for sure.

One more thing before I go, do you want to see my Millennium Frame and Necessaire Floor Stand which (finally) arrived?  Here they are...

I have never used a frame before, just stitched in hand, but this is so much nicer!  I love how the fabric stays so taut.  The frame is easy to use and the wood is just beautiful.  It was a long wait but so worth it.

Well, that's all from me for now, don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Until next time

New friends and a finish!

I have been busy and my passion is for smalls at the moment.  Unfortunately most of my WIPs are not small, so a new start and finish was required...

Miss Peepers by Little House Needleworks
Stitched on Zweigart 28 count Cashel Linen Cream
with recommended DMC, GAST and CC threads

I think this is one of my favourite ever stitches.  The colours were lovely to work with and she has stitched up beautifully.  I may attempt a pinkeep finish rather than a pillow as I would like to display her on the wall.

You may have seen over on Michelle's blog that we had a meet-up at Legoland in Windsor this week.  We were both there celebrating the birthday of our younger sons, which coincidentally were on the same day!  It was the first time I have met with a fellow stitcher/blogger and I am happy to say we were soon chatting like old friends!
That's me on the left with Michelle on the right

I was the lucky winner of a giveaway from Michelle and she was able to hand this over in person.  Her work is even more exquisite in real life! (Michelle I have borrowed your photo - hope you don't mind)

I recently discovered a new-to-me blog, cross stitch angel and as I voted on which project she should start next, she very kindly sent me a lovely gift as a thank you.

Angel magnet, Anchor threads and a birdy notebook

If you haven't visited her blog yet, you are missing out!  She has some lovely projects on the go including HAED and Mirabilia, and her finishes page is worth a look too.

Right, well now I'm off to shop the stash page and find something else "small" to stitch!

Until next time

Some finishes

I'm excited to share a few little finishes with you!  So let's get down to business.

The Boys are back in Town by JABCO
Stitched on a tatty piece of 30 count linen with recommended
WDW, Crescent Colours and GAST threads
Started 11/1/14, finished 10/8/14

I bought this at Harrogate last year as a "kit" from Nimble Thimble which included fabric and buttons.  I later found out that it was a free chart to be given with the buttons.  The fabric didn't seem great quality and nowhere near as nice as the display picture which was on WDW Graphite 30 count linen but I knew I wouldn't use the fabric for anything else and waste not want not!  I'm quite pleased with how this turned out.

Halloween Freebie by Stitchers Anon
Stitched on 32 count Permin linen in Riviera Olive
Started 8/8/14, finished 10/8/14

This is a freebie given as a little teaser of the mystery Halloween SAL organised by Stitchers Anon.  Part 1 is out today but I haven't had time to download it yet.  We have been really spoiled as we've had four free charts already!  There is a competition for anyone who finishes the cat to name it.  I have got my entry ready and will be sending it soon!

Here's my final little finish...
Fairy Magic by Joan Elliott
Free with WOCS magazine
Stitched on 14 count white aida with pink spots with
recommended DMC threads

I saw this on Mii Stitch's blog and knew I wanted to stitch it straight away.  She has finished it up beautifully - go and have a look!

Now I'm off to finish finish my piece for the Tutti Frutti exchange organised by Mii.  Can't wait to put my little parcel together and send it on its way!

Until next time
