Two finishes in one week, or where Alice gets some hair

Hello to all and hope you are having a lovely weekend.

I've not one but two finishes to show you today.  First up is this one by Imaginatings, called Let's Do Coffee.

Let's Do Coffee by Imaginatings
Stitched on 16 count Rustico aida with DMC 3031
Started 9th January 2015, finished 21st May 2015

This is my 8th finish of the 15 projects I started in January for Debbie's Crazy January Challenge, so I'm now officially over halfway!  I know I probably won't finish the challenge as the 15th project I selected was a mini HAED but hey ho.  I'm having fun.

I also finished page 2 of Alice and the Dodo, which I am counting as a mini finish as the pages have over 4000 stitches each!  Alice now has some hair, hairband and part of her forehead.  Here's what she will look like when finished...

And here's where I'm up to...

Alice and the Dodo by GeckoRouge

I'm still really enjoying stitching her and am pleased I have managed to finish more than one page (unlike my progress on Treasure Hunt Bookshelf).

Here's another fun cross stitch news story for you, about a man who got so fed up waiting for his bank to replace his debit card that he cross stitched his own!

Hope to have another stitchy update soon.

Gifted Gorgeousness May 2015 - finish!

Only a day late with this post but I was stitching until 11 pm finishing this beauty off and the light wasn't too good for taking pictures by then.

Gifted Gorgeousness is hosted by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching and the idea is to stitch items that have been given as gifts or are intended to be gifts, anything with a link to gifts!

So...this was my Secret Santa gift last Christmas from the office I work in.  And now it's finished!

I've enjoyed stitching this one so much I've purchased the kit of its partner, Weekend in Paris. Both cities I have visited and loved.

Thank you to Santa and to Jo for hosting this brilliant SAL!

Until next time

Some Crazy January stitching

Thank you all for your lovely comments on my last posts.  I haven't stitched much all week but yesterday and today my mojo has returned and I've put a few stitches into two of my Crazy January Challenge pieces.

I started 15 pieces on the first 15 days of January, in memory of Debbie Faris Bryant aka SoCal Debbie who tragically died last year.  I have finished 6 of those so far, and have made good progress with a few others.

First up is Roma by Lanarte.  I love working on this and have bought the companion piece, Paris.  Here is my progress so far...

and here's how the finished picture looks.

I just have a bit of the Coliseum to finish off, and the swirly "writing" at the top (which doesn't actually say anything as far as I can tell!) and then the bottom "ROMA" panel.  This was my Secret Santa gift last year from work and I am hoping to have it finished in time for Gifted Gorgeousness on the 15th of this month.

The other piece I chose to work on is this one by Imaginatings...

It hadn't been out of the stash cupboard since I started it on 9th January.  After an hour working on it this morning it has gone from this...

to this...

It's going to stitch up quickly I think.

And finally, I saw this great election story on the BBC website, about a man who tried to cross stitch the UK General Election result last night.  A mere 650 stitches!

Until next time

Stitching Alice's hair

Yes, that's what I'm going to be doing tonight!  I'm so excited to have finished with many different shades of grey, brown and teal and am finally starting a sort of bronzy colour!

There's the bronze all ready to go.  I am still really enjoying stitching this one.  Here's a picture of the finished version in case you haven't seen her before.

I am most of the way through page 2 in the top left hand corner.

I haven't forgotten that I promised to have a giveaway for reaching 200 followers.  Life is a bit busy and stressful at the moment but I have started getting some cross stitch goodies together and will be announcing more details soon!

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments.  I like to reply individually to comments but have been having lots of no-comment reply bloggers recently.  So if I don't reply to you, it's because I can't, and please know that I appreciate you just the same!

Until next time
